The history of the Maa Baglamukhi Siddha Peeth in Nalkheda is deeply intertwined with the greatest epic of India—the Mahabharata.
According to ancient texts and local lore, when the Pandavas were facing the mighty Kaurava army, they realized that ordinary weapons would not suffice against invincible warriors like Bhishma and Drona. They needed the ultimate power of 'Stambhan' (the ability to paralyze the enemy's intellect and actions).
Upon the advice of Lord Krishna, Yudhishthira (the eldest Pandava) performed an intense Tantrik Yagya on the banks of the Lakhundar River in Nalkheda to invoke Maa Baglamukhi. The Goddess, pleased with their devotion, granted them the 'Brahmastra' energy, ensuring their impossible victory at Kurukshetra.
Unlike most temples where the central idol is carved by a sculptor and installed via 'Pran Pratishtha', the idol at Nalkheda is Swayambhu.
Swayambhu means 'self-manifested'. The radiant, golden-hued idol of Maa Baglamukhi emerged naturally from the earth at this exact energetic vortex. Because it is self-manifested, the raw cosmic power of the Peeth is considered exponentially higher than man-made temples, making prayers here manifest rapidly.
A unique architectural and spiritual feature of the Nalkheda temple is the presence of the Tri-Shakti (The Divine Triad).
In the inner sanctum (Garbhagriha), Maa Baglamukhi is flanked by Maa Lakshmi on one side and Maa Saraswati on the other. This signifies that a devotee who prays here receives:
While the Peeth has been a highly guarded secret among Aghoris and Tantriks for centuries, the physical structure of the temple underwent significant restoration around 1815 AD.
For generations, the unbroken lineage of Brahmin priests (Acharyas) at Nalkheda have preserved the exact Sanskrit intonations, mudras, and fire ritual protocols required to safely invoke the Goddess's fierce form, ensuring the temple remains a beacon of hope for the unjustly persecuted.
The Swayambhu energy of Nalkheda is unmatched. If you are facing impossible legal battles or severe enmity, a Havan performed here can change your fate.

The temple was not built by any king in modern history. The deity is 'Swayambhu' (self-manifested). According to scripture, the Pandavas performed a massive Yagya here on the advice of Lord Krishna, making them the earliest recorded worshippers.
